To plan chatter shifts, divide the hours you want covered into shifts of equal length, decide how many accounts one chatter can handle at once, and staff every shift with enough chatters for all accounts. Multiply by seven days and divide by the days each chatter works per week to get the team size. Add a short overlap for handovers.

Questions, answered
How many accounts can one chatter handle?
It depends on how busy the accounts are and how personal the chat is. Busy accounts often need one chatter each at peak hours, while quieter ones can be grouped. Start conservative, measure response times and adjust.
Should shifts overlap?
A short overlap of 15 to 30 minutes lets the outgoing chatter hand over open conversations and leave notes on fans before leaving. Without it, the first minutes of every shift are spent catching up.
Is 3 shifts of 8 hours or 4 shifts of 6 hours better?
Eight-hour shifts need fewer handovers; six-hour shifts keep chatters fresher and make it easier to staff peak hours. Many agencies use longer shifts for quiet hours and shorter ones around evening peaks.
Does FansTracker schedule shifts?
Not yet. Shifts and chatter activity are in development. Today FansTracker gives every chatter their own login, per-account assignment and fan notes, which keep handovers clean whatever roster you use.
